Did you know that 98% of all potbellied pigs are rehomed?
It’s true. Marketed as “mini pigs,” these animals are brought into homes and expected to stay tiny. When the pigs grow to be between 90 and 150 lbs., their owners are in over their heads.
Off to the shelter these poor pigs go, and those are the lucky ones. Other potbellied pigs are abandoned in the desert to fend for themselves.
Hearts Alive Village wants to change that.
The Piggy Village is a foster-based initiative created to impact this disheartening statistic and make sure that these loving creatures get a second chance at a happy life.
Sponsor a Pig
No room in your life for a 90 lb pet? That’s okay, you can still support them. Veterinary care (even the basics) costs more for a pig. Your donation will help provide spay and neuter for a rescue piggy.
Foster a Pig
In order to rescue these animals from the shelter, we need loving foster homes willing to take them in. If you have space in your heart and your yard for a piggy in need, please consider fostering. As with all of our animals, we provide food and medical care for your foster.
