Honoring Heather Carpenter
Heather Carpenter served as the Chair of our Board of Directors for 5 years and was a guiding force in our mission. As the Western Regional Director for The Humane Society of the United States, Heather dedicated her life to the protection and advocacy of animals, overseeing efforts across ten states. With more than 20 years of grassroots activism, she played an instrumental role in advancing animal welfare through national and statewide campaigns. From championing protections for greyhounds and farm animals to fighting for policy changes on horse slaughter and chimps in research, Heather was a tireless advocate for those without a voice.
Though she tragically passed away in October of 2024, Heather’s spirit and influence remain deeply woven into our work. Her leadership, passion, and unwavering dedication continue to inspire us every day. We feel her presence guiding us, as if she is watching over us like a guardian angel—ensuring that our mission stays strong and that we never lose sight of the compassion that drives us forward.
She lives on in the countless lives she touched, the victories she helped achieve, and the love she shared for animals and people alike. Heather, we honor you, and we carry your legacy forward.
